A CHARCUTIERIE BOARD started from a love of bringing people together over delicious food. Our founder, CJ, has always had a flair for creating beautiful and tasty charcuterie boards that leave guests raving. With a background in event planning and a passion for gourmet foods, CJ decided to turn her hobby into a business.
We take pride in sourcing the finest ingredients and creating visually stunning boards that are sure to impress. Our passion lies in offering art you can taste. We love to transform food into works of art. We want to tantalize your taste buds with flavors, textures, and many combinations! The History of Charcuterie
Charcuterie (shar-KOO-tər-ee) boards are a fun food that has quite a history. Charcuterie can be traced back to ancient civilizations when the Romans would salt, spice and cure meat and then smoke or dry it to expand the shelf life of the meat while using all parts of the animals to reduce waste. This process was essential for survival. In the 15th century a guild of butchers were established to regulate the trade of cured meats thus named "charcutiers". Charcuterie shops then became very popular in urban areas and by the 18th century the French pioneered this culinary art of charcuterie and exported their knowledge to other countries.
The French are accredited with the perfection and popularization of charcuterie by developing meat preservation, complex recipes and techniques passed down from generation to generation. By the 18th and 19th centuries charcutiers created the art of charcuterie with designing elaborate displays of their products.
